Install Sticky Notes Windows Server 2008

Nov 12, 2011  Windows 7, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008.

I tried recommending this on the Server 2012 thread, but that post was deleted as the thread was too old - unfortunately, it's also a top Google search result. My reply here may help bump this one higher on the list when others do a similar search, so people get useful content that both works on any version and does not violate your license terms. This can be used on any version of Windows, XP to 10, Server 2003 to 2012 (should also work on 2016, haven't tried it yet), and it's very lightweight. And you can close and reopen your notes, change the text size, etc. I personally prefer the skin.

It takes less desk space than the 'prettier' versions, but still has LOTS of options on a drop-down menu. I need to see the text at a glance, not colorful toolbars. This does require VC++ 2008, which can be downloaded directly from. I use it for quick reference text commands that are only needed on that one server - I can copy/paste complex service-related commands into a CMD box.

I have used Microsoft Sticky Notes desktop app since Windows 7 and since the Anniversary update it won't open. I can't even find the HKEY. I have some important info on them. I read that I can open the SNT file with Word but that only shows a thumbnail and a message saying there are files inside but it won't open it. SNT files don't exist for anything else except Sticky Notes. I would now love to roll back to the previous version of Windows 10 but I didn't make a backup.

Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance. Original title: Microsoft Sticky Notes. Hi, I suggest you to try the below troubleshooting steps and check if you are able to access Microsoft Sticky Notes desktop app. Method 1: I suggest you to run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter. Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter, troubleshoots problems that may prevent Windows Store Apps from working correctly.

Method 2: I suggest you to check if there are any updates for the Sticky note from Windows Store. If found, try to install it and check if it helps. Hope it helps. Get back to us with an updated status of accessing the Microsoft Sticky Notes desktop app for further assistance.

@skiniz, It sounds like the application may be crashing shortly after boot. Skini dlya winamp v vide magnitofona. We're tracking an issue like this, and have a fix in the works that we're hoping to distribute via a store update shortly -- but I'd be curious if you could confirm by checking to see what Fault Bucket is present in your Event Viewer. (You can find the Event Viewer by searching in the box next to the start menu). Within the Event Viewer, expand your Windows Logs and click on Application. If the application is crashing, you should see two event logs being generated. The first (lower) one of type Error will show an Application Error for the Faulting application: Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes.exe.

Normally, right above the application error event you should see an Information Event from the Window Error Reporting source that should contain something that looks like. Thanks @skiniz, @Iaajr. Fault bucket 97 is indeed the crash that we have a fix for. We're working to push this out to Insiders Fast (hopefully today) before more generally making available to all.

BTW, one workaround that has been reported to help alleviate the problem: If you go into Settings>System>Display and take the 'Change the size of text, apps, and other items' to 100% instead of the recommended 125%, sign out and sign back, the crash will likely no longer repro. I realize though that running at 100% dpi is annoying on your device, however; but wanted to mention it on the off-chance that this helps you or others. Hope to reply back soon with an update on the new build. Thanks again for your patience, Donovan Lange.
